United States surgeon general Dr Vivek Murthy has donated Covid related medical equipment to small hospitals in Mandya and Kodagu districts.
Murthy a native of Hallegere in Mandya district contributing through his Scope Foundation.
** Karnataka HC to live stream its proceedings on trial basis
In a first, the High Court of Karnataka will conduct trial of live court proceedings of two Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petitions at 2.40 pm on May 31, 2021.
The proceeds in the Court Hall-1 of Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice Suraj Govindaraj would be aired live on High Court’s Youtube Channel on an experimental basis.

** Five-in-one wearable device developed in Bengaluru to monitor vitals of cardiac patients
A five-in-one wearable telemetric device is being used to monitor the vital parameters of Covid and non-Covid cardiac patients at the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research.
The device developed by Cardiac Design Labs is named “Padma Vitals”.

#Vax4All campaign is aimed at holding community-level camps for apartment dwellers and the staff
The Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF), an association of over 950 apartment complexes in the city, launched #Vax4All campaign to facilitate COVID-19 vaccination support to residents’ welfare associations across the city.
This is expected to cover 10.98 lakh citizens, including residents and staff working there.

** Two Bengaluru labs among 17 new ones to help with genome sequencing
They are Indian Institute of Science and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research
Amid rising concerns over mutations and a surge in COVID-19 cases, the Centre has added 17 more national labs, including two from Bengaluru, to the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Consortia (INSACOG) network. This is to ramp up genome sequencing of the virus and help understand the spread of new variants in the country.
** Techie turns saviour, sets up helpline for Covid patients
A 33-year-old techie from Vijayapura has set up a 24X7 helpline to assist Covid-19 patients in finding beds, oxygen cylinders and medicines.
Zahoor Kazi, who works as a software engineer at a private firm in Bengaluru, started ‘Mercy Helpline Vijayapura’ (MHV) on May 14 in collaboration with doctors, activists and other software engineers.
** Medicine man: Bengaluru doctor with a mobile clinic treats Covid patients in their homes
Every morning at 8 am, Dr Sunil Kumar Hebbi takes his car out for duty – not to head to a clinic or hospital, but to take his mobile clinic to treat patients in their homes.
For the past decade, 37-year-old Dr Hebbi, a resident of Malleswaram, has been running the mobile clinic through his Matru Siri Foundation to treat the poor free of charge. But the current health crisis has demanded more of his time, and he’s been on double duty.
** Agarbathi industry posts good sales volume

** 22 oxygen concentrators for Dharwad
Like-minded people from India and Australia who have formed a team called “Medical Oxygen for All” have donated 22 oxygen concentrators to Dharwad. On Thursday, Superintendent of Police of Dharwad P. Krishnakant handed them over to the Health Department in the district.
Mr. Krishnakant, who is part of “Medical Oxygen for All”, symbolically handed over a few oxygen concentrators to District Health Officer Yashwanth Madinkar at his office on Thursday.
