** Mangaluru: Smart City’s new look – Paintings of Tulunadu rituals, beliefs in Hampankatta

A wall painting is being done in the heart of the city in order to depict the culture and rituals of Tulunadu, which are very different from those of other parts in the state.

The wall paintings consist of Kambala, Kola, Nemotsava, Bandi, Cock fight, Rathostava, portraits of Veera Rani Abbakka, Parashurama, Appannana Katte (Hampanakatte), Jamboo Savari and Hampi chariot festival. In addition, social awareness messages, educational awareness, health and clean green Kudla are also giving the city an attractive look.

** Mangalore Konkans Dubai to host ‘Golden Voice of UAE’ singing reality show

After a gap of 4 years, Mangalore Konkans Dubai are back again, to create a platform for encouragement of talents and awareness of the enormous budding singing talents available in the UAE with the Konkani community. A reality show in Konkani singing is organized to crown ‘Mangalore Konkan’s Golden Voice of UAE’ in male and female category for UAE residents above the age of 18.

As per president of Mangalore Konkans Dubai, James Mendonca, the audition round will be held on Sunday June 5 at 4:30 PM at Bab Al Ibada Party Hall, Mezzanine floor, HSBC building, King Faisal road, Sharjah. The best 6 in each category will be qualified for the second round followed by the finale which will be held in the month of November, with live band, music and singing qualified judges and with more than 750+ audience.

** Kollur temple prasadam gets safety certificate under BHOG scheme

This certificate has been given to the temple for offering clean and hygienic ‘prasadam’ to devotees. About 5,000 to 7,000 devotees are served the lunch at the temple daily.

The famous Sri Mookambika Temple, Kollur in Udupi district, one of the richest temples of the state – got a quality certificate from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under Blissful Hygienic Offering to God (BHOG) scheme – an initiative started by the Association of Food Scientists and Technologist of India (AFSTI).

** Mangaluru: Sonal, Simone Monteiro emerge winners of first ever ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars’

Daijiworld 24×7 TV’s mega stage show of Konkani programmes, ‘Konkani Sambhram-2′ was held at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday April 17.

The special entertainment programme of around 2 hours duration was witnessed by a huge crowd. Going by their response, they enjoyed every moment of it.

The show was mainly dedicated for presenting awards to the winners of popular Konkani reality shows, ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars’ and ‘MTG-Gulf Edition’.

Sonal Monteiro and Simone Monteiro won the title of ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars’ while Jenisha D’Souza and Cherryl Anna D’Almeida bagged the runner-up spots of the show. Asha Moras and Seema D’Souza from Allipade were the second runners- up. Noel and Jenifer Mascarenhas, the founders of the SMKC Dubai, honoured the winners with the trophies and prize money.

The World Tulu premiere of Rahul Amin directorial Raj Sounds and Lights will be held in 11 countries and 6 major cities in India

** Karnataka third in medical consultations via eSanjeevani

Union Health Ministry’s flagship telemedicine service has registered more than three crore tele-consultations till now.

The state government has been awarded third place in the country for in number of medical consultations (25,03,995) through eSanjeevani platform at the Ayushman Bharath Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC) since its inception in December 2020. It is a doctor-to-doctor telemedicine service to provide general and specialised health services in rural areas through the ‘Hub-and-Spoke’ model.

The award was given in ‘Strengthening Healthcare to the Last Mile’ category to mark the 4th anniversary of the setting up of AB-HWCs. The Union Health Ministry’s flagship telemedicine service eSanjeevani has registered more than three crore tele-consultations and the state government has provided medical consultations to 47,68,123 people in total as on April 15.

The state stands third in the category where patients are provided the service at the HWCs after Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

** 3D printed dancing robot designed by students of College Innovators @Nitte, Karkala

As everyone knows, robotics is revolutionizing many industries today. In this era of automation, students at College Innovators Innovation & Product Development (CIIPD) Center-Nitte, have come up with an innovative 3D printed dancing robot.

This robot was developed by a team of four, where the students came from diverse educational backgrounds like Engineering, MCA, BBA etc. Robot development was made possible by the use of a combination of technologies, the design and the robot’s body were created using 3D designing and modelling skills, and the robot operated with the help of microcontrollers, sensors, motors, etc. In fact, it is a matter of pride to see these students upgrade their skills and become industry-relevant.

Project to improve treatment of neurological disorders was launched January

Soon diagnosis and timely treatment of common neurological problems, such as epilepsy, headache, stroke, dementia and brain infections, can be done from the grassroots level of primary health centres, secondary-level district hospitals and NIMHANS at the tertiary level in the State.

Recognising the need to improve treatment and prevent neurological disorders in the community, the State Government in association with NIMHANS and Niti Ayog launched the Karnataka Brain Health Initiative (Ka-BHI) in January.

** International Belagavi Poetry Festival to go online

The second edition of the International Belagavi Poetry Festival will be held online this year. Rostrum Diaries by GubbiBoo, a platform for arts and poetry, has invited writers to send their entries to the festival.

Poetry in English, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi can be submitted. There is no age limit. The top 200 poems will be published free of cost in the BPF booklet.

Every performer will get the e-copy of the participation certificate and the same shall be emailed after the valedictory function.
