Rao Bahadur Pemmanda K. Monnapppa (P.K.Monnappa)

1956.  P.K. Monnappa was appointed as the First Inspector General of Police (IGP)of Mysore State (now Karnataka) and served during the Government of Chief Minister S. Nijalingappa.

In recognition of his meritorious service the title ‘Rao Saheb’ at first and later ‘Rao Bahadur’ was conferred.

1920. Joined as an officer in IP (Imperial Police) cadre –  as Police Inspector in Madras

1948: Rose to the level of Inspector-General of Police, Madras Province

1953: Appointed as Inspector-General of Police, Andhra State

1956: Inspector-General of Police Mysore State (Karnataka)

1959: Retired from service

India’s first DVD with animated visuals on  ‘Daasara Padagalu ‘ is  – Daasar, The Fables.

It was launched on September 01st at Bhavan’s Priyamvada Birla Institute of Management auditoriam, Bharitya Vidya Bhavan, Vijayanagara first stage, Mysore.

C. Basavalingaiah.

C. Basavalingaiah has been appointed as the first Director of the Bangalore Chapter of National School of Drama (NSD).

C. Basavalingaiah, a noted theatre personality has directed landmark plays in Kannada including ‘Malegalalli Madumagalu’ a 9-hour theatrical adaptation of a classic by Kuvempu.

He was involved in ‘Samudaya’ a street theatre movement. Later he attended National School of Drama, Delhi graduating with a specialisation in direction.

Basavalingaiah has worked as Director of ‘Rangayana’ a dramatic academy in Mysore and also with the Regional Research Centre of NSD in Bangalore.
