Sandbox Collective, a women-led art collective that focuses on gender, realised these discrepancies. Nimi Ravindran, the co-founder of the organisation, says, “We heard that domestic violence escalated. Our friends in theatre were fundraising for transgender people and sex workers, who had no way of coping with a calamity. It was a testing time for women and gender minorities. We wanted to do something that involved something tangible.”

** Karnataka digital library: 1.91 crore viewers, 20 lac books read

As many as 1.91 crore people have already got themselves registered for the Karnataka Digital Public Library started by the Karnataka department of public libraries. This figure is expected to touch two crore by the end of this month. This will be the highest by any state in the country as a whole.

The digital library was started two years back with the aim of ensuring that books should be made available to everyone in the state and to give a boost to the habit of reading.

Eminent chartered accountant and philanthropist Nandagopal Shenoy has been elected unanimously as the president for the term of 2021-2024.

** Bangalore University makes entry into THE global employability ranking

 For the first time, Bangalore University (249th rank) has entered the Global Employability Ranking and Survey (GEURS) run by higher education HR consultancy Emerging and published by Times Higher Education (THE). 

Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) obtained rank 61 globally and was the second-highest institute in terms of employability only after IIT Delhi.

** Karnataka Skill Development Corporation launches Industry Linkage Cell

Towards improving employment opportunities in the state and building strong Industry-Academia relationships, the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation launched an ‘Industry Linkage Cell’ on Thursday, November 25, 2021.

Launching the initiative at the Industry Connect Conclave, Dr. C.N. Ashwatha Narayana, Minister for IT/BT and Skill Development, said, at the state level, the linkage cell will facilitate the overseeing and monitoring of industry linkage activities of 31 districts.
