132 years ago in 1882,  David Emmanuel Starkenburgh White (D.S.White) set up a self-sufficient Euro-Asian and Anglo-Indian settlement(village) east of Bangalore.

1882 – April 07th, His Highness Chamaraja Wodeyar IX, the Maharajah of Mysore granted 3,900 acres of land for the Association in Mysore State (now Karnataka State).

D.S.White was founder and President of the Anglo-Indian Association of Madras. He was also instrumental in setting up the Coorg and Mysore branch.

First time IIM-Bangalore ranked in FT Global MBA-2014

Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore, (IIM-Bangalore)

For the first time in 2014, IIM-Bangalore made its debut globally. It was featured in the charts of ‘ Financial Times Global MBA 2014’ ranking list at the 68th position of the Top 100 .

Consequently it is now the third such Indian institution to have figured in the Top 100 Management Schools globally. The other two being IIM-Ahmedabad and Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.

First time Mass offered in Malayalam at Shrine of St. Lawrence – 2014

For the first time a Bishop offered Mass in Malayalam language in the Shrine of St. Lawrence

Rev. Dr. Lawrence Makuzzi, Bishop of Belthangady offered Holy Mass in Malayalam on the day of the Annual Feast of St. Lawrence Shrine on January 29th, 2014 .

First Kannada film with crowd simulation

Aryan – a Shivrajkumar-Ramya starrer.

This sports based film will be the first Kannada film to have a virtual crowd stadium and crowd simulation.

Graphics were done by Bangalore-based Giridhar Gopal with a 60-member team of roto artists, compositors, 3D moulders, animators and matte painters.

Karnataka’s First Inspector General of Police . 1956

Rao Bahadur Pemmanda K. Monnapppa (P.K.Monnappa)

1956.  P.K. Monnappa was appointed as the First Inspector General of Police (IGP)of Mysore State (now Karnataka) and served during the Government of Chief Minister S. Nijalingappa.

In recognition of his meritorious service the title ‘Rao Saheb’ at first and later ‘Rao Bahadur’ was conferred.

India’s first DVD with animated visuals on  ‘Daasara Padagalu ‘ is  – Daasar, The Fables.

It was launched on September 01st at Bhavan’s Priyamvada Birla Institute of Management auditoriam, Bharitya Vidya Bhavan, Vijayanagara first stage, Mysore.
