Mysuru’s Dr. Varsha S. Puranik, Ekalavya Awardee, is taking part in the ongoing World Speed Skating Championships in Colombia that began on Nov. 1 and will go on till Nov. 16.

She is trained by Ekalvya Awardee K. Srikantha Rao of Rao’s Roller Skating Academy, Mysuru.

Starting Monday, over 13 lakh ration card holders in Bengaluru can get foodgrains and other essentials provided through Public Distribution System (PDS) at their doorstep. The Karnataka government, as part of the Janasevaka initiative, has started a number of schemes, including distribution of foodgrains.

Two students from Karnataka were tied at the fifth place to make it to the top 20 in the NEET-UG 2021 results, which were announced late on Monday evening.

With a percentile score of 99.998705, Jashan Chhabra and Meghan H.K. scored an all-India rank of 5 along with 10 others.

** No more RC smart cards for new vehicles

RCs will be in a digitised format and printed on paper

After issuing smart cards for registration certificates (RCs) for over 12 years, the Transport Department will do away with the exercise in the future. Instead of smart cards, owners of new vehicles will get their RCs in a digitised format and printed on paper.

On Monday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai launched 30 contactless online services related to the Transport Department.

Among the services, the prominent ones are registration of new vehicles (non-transport) at the dealer point, issuing of learning licence, transfer of ownership, temporary registration certificate, and issuing of international driving permit.
