** Puneeth Rajkumar honoured posthumously with Basavashree Award 2021

Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar will be posthumously conferred the Basavashree award 2021 by the Bruhanmutt. Murugha Mutt seer Dr Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru on Thursday made an announcement in this regard.

The award honours people for services to society in their respective fields by following the principles of Lord Basaveshwar. It is presented by Chitradurga Bruhanmutt since 1997. The award includes a Rs 5 lakh cash and a memento.

** PM Modi to unveil Mysuru sculptor’s Shankaracharya statue today

On Friday, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils a statue of Guru Adi Shankaracharya at Kedarnath, it will be a matter of pride for Mysuru.

The Krishna shile (chlorite schist) is from a remote part of HD Kote taluk in the district, and Arun Yogiraj, the man who chiselled the statue, is from the famed Mysuru family of sculptors.

Bharatiya Vikas Trust (BVT), Manipal, established by late T.A. Pai, has bagged the Ashden Award 2021 in the ‘Energy Access Skills’ category.

Trust’s Master Trainer Sudhir Kulkarni and Consultant Sudeeptha Ghosh received the award from Costa Rica President Charlos Alvarado Quesada during the Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, United Kingdom, on November 4.
