** Karnataka second in digital transactions on PhonePe in Q3 2021

Maharashtra took the top spot

Karnataka recorded the second-highest number of digital transactions on fintech platform PhonePe in the July-September quarter of calendar year 2021. Maharashtra took the top spot.

Bengaluru Urban was the top district accounting for around 63% of the total digital transactions in Karnataka, with the value of the transactions in the metropolitan area being ₹48 crore. This was followed by Mysuru with transactions valued at ₹2.5 crore and Bengaluru Rural with ₹1.82 crore, according to the company.

Dinesh A. Nagegowda, Senior Principal Scientist and scientist in-charge of CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Research Centre, Bengaluru, has been elected as a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, for his significant contribution in plant science, particularly in the area of molecular biology and biotechnology of specialised metabolites in medicinal and aromatic plants.

Wipro GE Healthcare has set up GE Shop, a B2B e-commerce platform, to enable the purchase of genuine med-tech devices, equipment, and their parts and accessories online.

Through the GE Shop, Wipro GE Healthcare aims to address the underserved Tier II & III markets in India. This initiative is aligned to GE’s vision of democratising access and unlocking better value in healthcare systems across India.

** KSLSA to launch legal services clinic in BBMP to resolve citizen’s grievances

The Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) will soon start a Legal Services Clinic in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to resolve grievances related to property khata and other issues by offering free legal assistance to citizens.

** Fellowship conferred on K.S.Rangappa

K.S.Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, has been elected as Fellow of the Biotech Research Society of India (BRSI) for 2021, according to a release.

The fellowship is given to Indian scientists in recognition of their significant research contributions in the field of sciene and Prof. Rangappa was recognised for his work in the areas of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, the release added.

** Prestige Group Co-Founder Rezwan Razack Conferred With Honorary Doctorate By GD Goenka University

Rezwan Razack is Co-Founder and Joint MD of Bangalore-based Prestige Group and is hailed as the largest collector of Indian currency.

He is also the founder of South India’s first currency museum in Bengaluru, one of the largest and most authentic collections of Indian paper money and coins.

He is co-author of the Revised Standard Reference Guide to Indian Paper Money.

** Sapna Book House Releases 66 Books To Mark Kannada Rajyotsava

Commemorating the 66th Rajyotsava celebrations, Sapna Book House, Bengaluru, had organised a function to release 66 new Kannada books of noted writers of the State. CM Basavaraj Bommai released the books in the presence of dignitaries while noted writer H.S. Venkatesh Murthy was the chief guest. ‘Facebook Prapancha – Sri Samanyaru Bhaumanyarau,’ written by Jayaprakash Rao (sitting extreme right) from Mysuru, was one of the books released on the occasion, which also has a collection of unique profiles of  achievers of the city. Rao, the former Regional PRO, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Liason Officer of Dr. Kalam, has four previous books to his credit  — ‘Agniya Rekkegallu’ and ‘Kalam Jeevana Dharma’ which have been reprinted many times.
