In an attempt to ensure transparency in recruitment of gazette probationers by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), the State Cabinet on Friday decided to reduce the maximum marks prescribed for the interview from the present 50 to 25.
According to sources in the State Cabinet, the decision was taken to reduce corruption in the recruitment process. Allocating high marks for the interview would increase the scope of influencing the interviewers to give more marks which would impact the overall marks of candidates.
Jason Correa hailing from Milagres Kallianpur has been elected the president of Abu Dhabi’s Konkani Cultural Organization. The election was held during the annual general body meeting that took place at Nihal Hotel Abu Dhabi on the February 16.
Jason has been working in the UAE since 2007 and has been a member of the Organization from 2014. In the past he has worked in the roles of assistant general secretary and media coordinator in the previous committees. He was also a member of the KCO silver jubilee committee for the year 2020-21.

Former MLA and long term Chairman of People’s Education Society (PES) H.D. Chowdaiah (94), died of age-related ailments at his residence in Holalu village on the outskirts of Mandya on Tuesday night.
Chowdaiah leaves behind sons H.C. Mohan Kumar and H.C. Hariprasad and daughters H.C. Bhagya, H.C. Latha and Dr. H.C. Savitha. His wife Doddalingamma had pre-deceased him three years ago.

Founder member Walter Nandalike released the song in the presence of other founder members and past and current convenors of Daiji Dubai. The song was originally written by Robert Fernandes Udyavar and Rony D’Cunha, and modified by Glany Fernandes by visually covering the journey of Daiji Dubai from last 21 years and beautifully sung by Vinay Lewis, Sabitha Mathias, Lydwin Cutinho, Zeena Pinto, Jeevan Vas and Anil Rodrigues for the wonderful music of Adrian Gomes.
Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday launched a bone marrow transplant (BMT) centre at the Bengaluru-centred Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO) to facilitate free treatment for children from economically weaker sections. He also announced plans to set up Kidwai regional centres in each district to make cancer treatment easily accessible to people across the state.
The bone marrow transplant centre has been opened to ensure that no child is deprived of such treatment in the fight against cancer, he noted.
