** IISc. to establish partnerships with 21 French institutions

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), on Thursday, announced that it has entered into an MoU to establish a four-year partnership with 21 French institutions under the aegis of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Government of France. IISc. has had many formal collaborations with France in fields ranging from mathematics and solid state chemistry to high energy physics and the interdisciplinary field of water research.

On November 22, at an event to celebrate the 20-year existence of the Indo-French Cell for Water Sciences established at IISc. in 2001, a completely renovated building with two new floors dedicated to the Cell, was inaugurated by Thierry Berthelot, Consul General of France in Bengaluru.

** Three from Bengaluru bag Infosys Prize 2021

Three of six winners of the Infosys Prize 2021 announced by the Infosys Science Foundation here on Thursday are based in Bengaluru.

Chandrasekhar Nair, CTO of Molbio Diagnostics in Bengaluru; Mahesh Sankaran from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) in Bengaluru; and Neeraj Kayal of Microsoft Research lab, Bengaluru were among the winners.

The students of ATME College of Engineering have won Best Project of the Year Award in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Stream in the 44th Series Student Project Programme held under Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, Smart Personal Protective Equipment for Healthcare Workers to Combat COVID-19.

** Mangaluru: Tasmayi, Jesnia bag gold in 37th State Speed Skating Championship

Tasmayi and Jesnia bagged gold in the 37th State Speed Skating Championship held at Bengaluru on November 25 to 28, 2021.

The Championship was organised by Karnataka Roller Skating Assocation. More than 450 skaters participated in the Championship. A total of 10 skaters from Mangalore Roller Skating Club participated and won a total of 15 medals.

Over 7500 patents globally and 3500 patents just in India. ** Mangalore University, Red Cross branch get awards

Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot presented the Best Performing University Award to the Youth Red Cross wing of Mangalore University in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The Vice-Chancellor P.S. Yadapadithaya received the award conferred in recognition of youth development activities and support in strengthening Youth Red Cross activities at the university at all levels for 2019-20.

The award was presented at the Annual General Meeting of Karnataka unit of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) at the Raj Bhavan.
