** Mangaluru: Shree Devi Institute Kenjar’s Prapooj Ichangi, team bag ‘The Best Short Film’ award
Prapooj Ichangi and his team, students who belong to the MCA department of Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Kenjar, a prestigious college in Mangaluru won ‘The Best Short Film’ award as per results announced on June 14 at the Mysuru International Water Film Festival-2021 hosted by the Filmaholic Film Foundation for their short film ‘Case No 1/2’.

Dr Mahesh has emerged as a model for others by working non-stop for over a month in the Covid hospital. He stayed inside the hospital, overlooking his responsibilities towards his family, house, wife and children. He is a corona warrior in the real sense.
Three kids get life-saving Rs 16-crore injections for free at Bengaluru hospital
Three girls suffering from the rare disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, were administered the expensive gene therapy, Zolgensma, for free at Bangalore Baptist Hospital on Thursday. Each vial of the one-time injection costs Rs 16 crore and is capable of changing the genetic code in the body.
In all, the initiative amounts to Rs 48 crore for the three children, and is being given for free by the manufacturing company, through a lottery system (CSR). Three other girls with the same disease are being administered Spinraza, a drug costing Rs 70 lakh each (Rs 2.10 crore for three kids) in the same hospital. This is also being given for free by the Compassionate Access Programme of the NGO Direct Relief. The total cost is Rs 50.1 crore.

** Yediyurappa condoles cricketer Vijayakrishna’s demise
Mr. Vijayakrishna had played Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy matches for Karnataka. In his 15-year career as an all-rounder, he played 80 first-class matches in which he scored over 2,000 runs and took 194 wickets.
He was responsible for Karnataka winning the Ranji Trophy twice. “In his death, we have lost a great cricketer. May his soul rest in peace. I pray to the Almighty to give strength to the family members and fans to bear the loss,” the Chief Minister said in his message.
** President’s medal for alumnus of Rashtriya Military School, Bengaluru
Cadet Deepak Singh (now Lieutenant), the parade commander at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), has been awarded the President’s gold medal for topping the order of merit.
An alumnus of the Rashtriya Military School, Bengaluru (RMS-B), Deepak Singh, was among the six cadets who graduated from the institution in 2017 and joined the National Defence Academy. The other five are Aman Singh, Malay Chandan, Rohit Kumar, Ujjwal Sarkar, and Avinash Chaubey.
** Agro centres to tie up with Israel, help double farm income in India
A collaboration between the two countries in this sector will improve quality and profitability, he said.
The centres are located in Kolar, Bagalkot and Dharwad, and will provide scientific inputs and methodologies.
Giving the example of the mango, he said the Alphonso, Mallika and Raspuri are local mango varieties but farmers have long been complaining of dwindling profitability. Innovative solutions can make the mango crop better again, the CM said. Tomar said new methods would help not just production, but also post harvest management.
** Israeli aerospace firm donates 100 oxygen concentrators to BEL
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Israel’s leading aerospace and aviation manufacturer, has donated 100 oxygen concentrators to defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) as a goodwill gesture.
The oxygen concentrators were handed over by Anandi Ramalingam, Director (Marketing), BEL, to Shivakumaran K M, Director (HR) at BEL corporate office in Bengaluru.
** IKEA enters Bengaluru with eCommerce and mobile shopping app
The company will also open a big IKEA store, close to 400,000 sq.ft. at Nagasandra here within a year, and this store will be connected to the Nagasandra metro station.
