** Mysuru gets Centre for Excellence in rubber technology, research

The Indian Rubber Institute (IRI), a professional body of rubber technologists, engineers, scientists and academicians, has established Centre for Excellence for Rubber Technology, Education, Training, Research, Testing and Skill Development on the JSS Science and Technology University campus here.

The JSS Mahavidyapeetha has provided 10,000 sq. ft of land on long lease to IRI for establishing the Centre.

** BEML receives orders from Cameroon, Bangladesh

Under the conditions of the order, the company will export 71 units of construction equipment, consisting of Bulldozers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Motor graders and Compactors to Cameroon for their Cassava Farm Project.

The order for the government of Bangladesh comprises the supply of Wheel Dozers for the construction, repair and maintenance of road and infrastructure projects.

** Police force celebrates Bengaluru’s first-ever traffic signal, installed in 1963

B N Garudachar, who oversaw the installation of the signal, said heavy traffic at the junction in 1963 necessitated the signal.

The signal was installed in 1963, when C Chandy was Commissioner of Police and B N Garudachar was Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
