** Karnataka Sangha Qatar celebrates ‘Engineers’ Day- 2021’

Karnataka Sangha Qatar, a frontline community group celebrated ‘Engineers Day-2021’, to commemorate the birthday of the iconic Engineer of India, Bharat Ratna, Sir M Vishweshwaraiah at Mumbai Hall-ICC on Wednesday, September 15 following all covid- protocols.

ICC president PN Babu Rajan was the chief guest of the evening. The program began with the lighting of the lamp by the KSQ Management committee members along with guests. KSQ president Nagesh Rao delivered the keynote and Suchitra Sridhara briefed the life story of legendary Engineer Sir M Vishweshwaraiah.

Kannadigaru Dubai, an association for Kannadigas in Dubai have started ‘Gulf Gaana Kogile’, a singing competition for Gulf Kannadiga children in association with all Karnataka Associations in the Gulf under the banner ‘Sangeetha Saurabha 2021’.

** Indian yoga teacher in UAE sets 3 world records during COVID pandemic

She has set two records in the India Book of Records and one in the Canada Book of Records.

Bhagya Puttalingappa, a native of Karnataka, has been practising yoga since the age of eight and her childhood passion earned her not only a double place in the India Book of Records, but she also earned a spot in the Canada Book of Records.

In the India Book of Records, Bhagya holds one record for performing Shirshasana (head standing pose) on a chair for one minute and seven seconds and another record for performing the maximum yoga poses standing on her head for one minute.

** ‘Bale Tulu Kalpuga’ – script learning class by Tulu Koota Kuwait inaugurated

Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK), the prominent association in Kuwait, organized the inauguration of ‘Bale Tulu Kalpuga’ -online Tulu script learning classes in association with Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Mangaluru on July 30 at 10.30 am Kuwait time (1.00 PM IST), virtually on zoom platform.

The program commenced with a prayer song by Saanidhya Sanath Shetty followed by Lord Ganesha’s invocation song by Raffeek Uddin.

Tulu Koota Kuwait President, Sanath Kumar Shetty, welcomed the guests and dignitaries to the function.

** Bengaluru girl invents portable battery that resembles power bank, wins accolade from Oxford University

This B’ luru girl has received the Vice-Chancellor’s Social Impact Award at the University of Oxford, for inventing a solar chargeable lithium ion portable battery useful for pushcart vendors.

Bengaluru-girl Prerna Wadikar recently won the Vice Chancellor’s Social Impact Award at the University of Oxford, UK. She received the award for inventing a device that resembles a power bank, which is a lithium ion portable battery.

** Awarding Australian Alumni

 13 recipients were awarded with over AUD 150,000 during the event.

The 13 recipients shared their projects from various fields, including environment, technology, agriculture, communication, gender, clean energy and more. Of the selected, four represented Chennai-based teams – Madhavi Shankar for communication app SpaceBasic, Venkateswaran Palat Krishnan for STEM Challenge Pilot, Ashok Jalagam for an Automated Millet Finder, and Lakshmi Venugopal for an Indo-Australian Platform on Environmental Education and Research (IA-PEER). The remaining recipients were posted in Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

** Gulf Medical University Hosts first-ever ‘White Coat Fashion Show’ by healthcare heroes

Gulf Medical University along with DCOM designs, Root Square, and the Paint Brush Art Community, Dubai organized the first-ever fashion show in the region by Healthcare heroes. The event, called Walking Art, is a tribute by the artistic community of the United Arab Emirates towards our frontline heroes.

The program was attended by Prof Hossam Hamdy, chancellor of Gulf Medical University- the chief guest of the function, along with Dr Bu Abdullah, chairman of BU Abdullah group and Uttam Chand, consul of Visa and community affairs, consulate of India, who were the guests of honor.

The fashion show was started with an opening act by Gulf Medical University Alumni led by Dr Ramita, and comprising of participants Dr Afrah, Dr Kajal and Dr Sandra.
