According to researchers from Wildlife Institute of India and National Tiger Conservation Authority, the number of tigers in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh could in fact be the same as Uttarakhand.

The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, has developed an inclusive therapy park, which, according to the institute, is one of its kind for children with communication disorders, including wheelchair users.

The park is designed keeping the barrier-free model in mind, making it accessible to all individuals, irrespective of their abilities. It provides an inclusive environment for children with special needs and facilitates their independent play skills.

** Mangaluru: MUDA initiative – Half dozen ponds developed, six more underway

Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has been striving to rejuvenate ponds within its limits with a view to conserve them and thus enrich underground water table. Six ponds have already been developed and ready for inauguration while six more ponds are in different stages of rejuvenation.

** Bengaluru’s ‘biggest water tower’ faces threat of losing tree cover

With the State Government deciding to develop the heritage structure, Balabrooie Guest House, into a Constitution Club for legislators, experts have raised concerns over axing of century-old trees.

Assembly Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri said the proposed structure will be similar to the Constitution Club of India, in New Delhi, and will be taken up without making major changes to the heritage building.

Environmentalists and heritage enthusiasts, however, said even if no major changes are made to the building, the authorities will end up cutting trees to provide parking and other facilities on the campus.

** Nest of love: Karnataka couple create awareness on importance of birds

Meet Nithyananda Shetty, founder of Gubbachichi Goodu Abhiyana, who started the forum with a motto to conserve birds. Shetty and his 26-year-old wife Ramya, an M.Com graduate, have dedicated their lives to birds by distributing nests made of wood and bamboo and clay pots for the winged creatures to quench their thirst.

The couple also strives to create awareness among people about the importance of birds and their contribution to the ecosystem.

** Young innovator develops a host of apps

At age 14, Prajwal N.H. is a certified Python programmer, Azure AI engineer, and a scrum master. He is also the co-founder of a startup called CloudAttack, a cloud computing company.

The young softech enthusiast has developed six applications that have received recognition at various levels. He recently received confirmation from the ‘India Book of Records’ recognising him as the ‘Youngest certified Azure AI engineer associate’.
