Agathe Agathe Aithu!! (‘It will happen, it will happen, it hashappened!!’ in Kannada)” began a tweet from the official handle of German Women’s Cricket last August.

Their captain had just accomplished a feat that no other woman in international cricket has: four wickets in four balls in a T20 International.

Anuradha grew up in Basavanagudi, a residential locality in South Bengaluru. Like many middle-class fathers of that time in Bengaluru, hers too was a keen follower of cricket.

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, has awarded the Professor Peraiah Foundation Award for 2021 to Dr Shravan Hanasoge of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai for his work on deciphering the internal structure of the sun, stars and the earth.

On the 103rd Haifa Day celebrations, The Mysore Lancers Heritage Foundation gives an account of the unsung warriors who defeated the Ottoman Empire in World War I.

“The Mysore Lancers Haifa Memorial was built in JC Nagar during the pre-Independence era. Although we pass by it on an everyday basis, we hardly notice the ‘Roll of Honour’ etched on the memorial.

We want to extensively spread the stories of valour and bravery of our forefathers and make this movement known among youngsters,” says Birje, who has also submitted a memorandum to education minister BC Nagesh to include the contribution of the Mysore Lancer s in WWI in his tory textbooks.

** Brahmavar: ‘Hanging Bridge’ Girish Bharadwaj chosen for Shivaram Karanth Huttoora Prashanti

 The selection committee formed for the purpose has chosen Girish Bharadwaj from Sullia for awarding of the prestigious ‘Dr Shivaram Karanth Huttoora Prashanti – 2021’. This award has been jointly instituted by Kotathattu gram panchayat and Dr Karanth Huttoora Prashasti Foundation.

Fondly known with the name, ‘Setubandhu’, Girish Bharadwaj has lighted up the lives of rural people by building 130 hanging bridges. He also is active in social service. Considering his achievements, the union government has conferred the ‘Padma Shri’ civil honour on him.

** Bangalore: Fr Vineeth George CMF wins PRCIs National Talent Hunt

Fr Vineeth George CMF, a Catholic priest belonging to the Bangalore province of the Claretian Congregation has won the four-month long inter-chapter talent hunt for the best speaker, organised by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI).

Fr Vineeth was declared the winner by a 12-member jury comprising top PR and communications professionals of India. He was presented the trophy and citation during the 15th edition of the World Communication Conclave held at Goa during September 18-19, which was graced by Sreedharan Pillai, the Governor of Goa; Dr Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa and Govid Gaude, the Cultural Minister of Goa. 

** Hero Stones Of Huchhagani

Demolished Nanjangud Temple stood on a site of immense archaeological value.

Huchhagani village is in Mysuru district, Nanjangud taluk, Hullahalli hobli, within the limits of Haradanahalli Gram Panchayat. It is 30 km from Mysuru and 28 km from  Nanjangud. If River Kapila flows in its east, river Bhrugu flows in its west. It has a 3,000-year-old history belonging to Megalithic culture. Burial and other antiquities found in the area are worthy of a serious study.

Five hero stones belonging to the Ganga Dynasty of the 9th and 10th centuries and Hoysalas of the 11th and 12th centuries were found by our study team. Adishakti Mahadevamma Temple, said to be built during the Chola period, is found in the south of Huchhagani village.

 In 2014, Dr Padmanabha Kamath, an interventional cardiologist, professor and head of the Cardiology Department at Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, helplessly watched a young man die after a massive cardiac arrest because of delayed diagnosis.

The only fault of the youngster was that he was from Karnataka’s rural hinterlands that did not have proper medical care.
