Chaitra Receives 20 Gold Medals At Mysore Varsity Convocation
Chaitra Narayan Hegde, who received 20 Gold Medals and 4 cash prizes in M.Sc (Chemistry), wants to pursue her doctoral degree in Medicinal Chemistry.
Chaitra, who hails from Seegehalli in Sirsi Taluk of Uttara Kannada district, is the daughter of Narayan Hegde and Sumangala, who are arecanut growers.

** Inscription with carving of ‘Purushamriga’ unearthed in Bantwal taluk
The inscription was unearthed by Rani Abbakka Tulu Adhyayana Kendra Chairman Dr Tukaram Poojaru and former Bantwal taluk panchayat president Yashvanth Deraje.

Daughter of a tailor, Chandana, a Class 9 student who topped the state-level art competition and was selected for the Kala Utsav, had almost lost hope due to frequent power cuts in her village. Subsequent lockdowns played spoilsport as she lost out on training when schools were shut.
Sangeetha was determined to train Chandana for the national competition. She convinced Chandana’s parents and took her home to Mysuru, where she gave her hands-on experience in using the machinery. “We had very little time to prepare for the event. With schools shut, it was difficult to train the students,” says Sangeetha. Despite using the machines for just three days, the talented Chandana bagged second prize, not possible without her teacher’s effort
** Taking the video route to reach out to students
Vivekanandagouda Patil, a teacher at Government High School, SM Krishna Nagar, Gadag town, has been producing short videos on myriad subjects — from short stories to letter writing to poems to current affairs—for Class 10 students. His YouTube channel — Vivekanandagouda Patil — has 2,91,000 subscribers, and provides videos in both Kannada and English.
** Going the extra mile for his students
Looking to give the kids something more so that their enthusiasm is not diminished, he went the extra mile, coming up with a YouTube channel – Surendra Guddehotel – where he uploads videos of lessons during his “free time”.
The channel now has close to 2,000 subscribers and students are impressed by his friendly and engaging style of teaching. Surendra’s seven-year-old son Samarth pitches in, helping with recording the lectures.
