** Young siblings attempt world record

Two young children are working hard at setting a record for the largest abstract painting in the world. This is to create awareness about art therapy.

Trio World Academy students, seven-year-old Virat Karan, and his sister, two-year-old Chanvitha Sundari, are attempting to set a new UNICO Book of World Records by creating a giant 1,000 sqft expressionist painting to raise awareness about the importance of art therapy.

** Karnataka digital library: 1.91 crore viewers, 20 lac books read

As many as 1.91 crore people have already got themselves registered for the Karnataka Digital Public Library started by the Karnataka department of public libraries. This figure is expected to touch two crore by the end of this month. This will be the highest by any state in the country as a whole.

The digital library was started two years back with the aim of ensuring that books should be made available to everyone in the state and to give a boost to the habit of reading.

Neerja Birla, founder and chairperson of MPower (an initiative of Aditya Birla Education Trust), who was the guest of honour at the event, was conferred with the ‘Change Champion Award’ for all her noble work in the field of mental health done through MPower. 

** Bangalore University makes entry into THE global employability ranking

 For the first time, Bangalore University (249th rank) has entered the Global Employability Ranking and Survey (GEURS) run by higher education HR consultancy Emerging and published by Times Higher Education (THE). 

Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) obtained rank 61 globally and was the second-highest institute in terms of employability only after IIT Delhi.

** Bengaluru students to launch balloon satellite in January

Scientific payloads include a camera, radiation sensor, GPS module, a plant and a toothpaste will be on the high-altitude balloon.

The payload which is almost ready, will be launched into an altitude of 100 km above the sea level from Hosakote between 2 am and 4 am after getting clearance from the air traffic control, Shashank Mane, Facilitator at the Centre of Excellence, Chaman Bhartiya School, told TNIE.

The school has teamed up with a Bengaluru-based edu-space startup, Genex Space, he added.

** BEOs told to issue TCs if private schools don’t

The State Government has issued strict directions to Block Education Officers to issue transfer certificates to children wishing to move out of private schools if parents file an application. This decision was taken after reports of private school managements refusing to issue certificates, forcing parents to turn to the Government for help.
