** Gold Medal In Bhagavad Gita Recitation Exam

Mansi U.S. Achar, a third standard student of Christ Public School, Mysuru, has completed ‘Srimad Bhagavad Gita Recitation Exam’ held at Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Mysuru, in distinction and has secured gold medal.

Daughter of H.N. Usharani and G. Umashankar, a businessman and a resident of T.K. Layout, the 8-year-old girl has learnt 700 shlokas in 10 months. Mansi is seen receiving the certificate from Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham.

** New Karnataka govt portal to rate citizens’ eligibility for welfare schemes

Karnataka offers about 250 welfare schemes but most of them still follow the manual process.

The platform, Suvidha, functions directly under Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is pushing the welfare plank in the election year, and is part of several e-governance initiatives being rolled out by the government.

“Suvidha is different from the Seva Sindhu, which is meant for services such as certificates or documents. Suvidha is for welfare schemes that involve a direct benefit,” he explained.

** Zoology Museum gets new building

The Zoology Museum at Karnatak College, Dharwad, where rare exhibits, including 2,500 specimens of animals and birds, are on display, has now got a spacious new premises. The new facility was inaugurated on Friday.

Inaugurating the new building, Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak University K.B. Gudasi said that the Zoology Museum was nothing but a treasure trove for degree and research students.

Prof. Gudasi said that the museum, a one-of-its-kind in the State, had over 2,500 specimens of animals and birds that have been preserved in pristine condition. “A curator too has been appointed for the museum to provide information to research students and students should make use of the facility,” he said.

** Platform by engineering graduates to help students chart higher education path

To tackle the problems in the higher education system and the concerns over unemployment among the youth, two graduates from RV College of Engineering, have established a platform called ‘Sapientury’. The platform will be used to equip students with academic and psychological know-how to tackle college and thereafter.

Their module, Chiguru, was rolled out to students and managements of 12 colleges in and around Bengaluru on Saturday. The module is created to help students transition smoothly from Class 12 to selecting a professional course, choosing a particular domain and also informs about their employment avenues.

** KLS GIT team wins Hackathon Manthan

A team of students from KLS Gogte Institute of Technology won the National Security Hackathon Manthan-2021 jointly organised by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and the Bureau of Police Research and Development.

The team developed a solution to a problem statement, Analysis of Hinglish Text, where the task was to identify abusive content written in language that combines Hindi and English words on social media posts and report it to the authorities.

College students who traverse long distances to attend class, will be given free lunch ranging from rice sambar to mudde sambar, at the newly established Nrupatunga university.

All they need to do is get the coupons and show it at their canteen from 11:45 am, through their common break, to avail food ranging from rice sambar to mudde sambar , free of cost.

** MMCRI turns 100 in 2024

The Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI), reckoned to be one of the country’s oldest medical colleges, will be completing 100 years in 2024. It was founded in 1924.

he associations of old students and others who have a close association with the MMCRI have started drawing up plans for the 100th anniversary.

As the MMCRI college building and the hospitals attached to the college – K R Hospital and Cheluvamba Hospital – are housed in heritage buildings and are in need of restoration without altering the original building architecture, the restoration is being timed ahead of the centenary celebrations.
