** Mangaluru: S Ganesh Rao chosen for A Shama Rao Memorial outstanding achievement Award

Shri S. Ganesh Rao, is chosen for A Shama Rao Memorial outstanding achievement Award 2022 in undivided South Canara District.

A Shama Rao Memorial Achievement Award 2022 for his contribution in the field of education, employment, social and community service. This award will be conferred on S Ganesh Rao, chairman, G R Education Trust and Karavali Group of Colleges on February 14, 2022 during Founder’s Day celebrations in the presence of Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, president, A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru and Chancellor, Srinivas University at Srinivas University Campus, Pandeshwara, Mangaluru.

** Scholarships worth ₹1 cr. given to over 3,600 girls

Bazm-e-Niswan Charitable Trust in Bengaluru 

The all-woman charitable trust distributed scholarships worth ₹1.32 crore to the 3,613 deserving girls from poorer sections of society. While 1,731 beneficiaries are PU students, 1,722 are pursuing undergraduate courses. As many as 65 are diploma students and 95 post-graduate students.

** M. K. Ramesh takes charge as RGUHS VC

He has a post-graduate qualification in surgery. He was awarded a fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons, United Kingdom

Dr. M. K. Ramesh assumed charge as the ninth Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on February 11.

Dr. Ramesh has vast and varied academic and administrative experience in the domain of medical education. He was a senior professor in the surgery department in the prestigious Bangalore Medical College and Research Centre.

** Supercomputer Param Pravega installed at IISc, largest in Indian academic institution

The supercomputer was designed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), with a majority of the hardware and software being manufactured within the country itself

** 2nd Runners-Up In Judo

Judo Men’s team of National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, secured 2nd Runners-up in the team championship in VTU Inter-Collegiate Mysuru Zone Judo Championships 2021-22 organised by at VDIT, Haliyal, from Dec. 15 to 17, 2021.

** Award to encourage original research on women’s mental health by OBGs

Minds United for Health Sciences and Humanity, a NGO also known as Minds United Trust, has instituted an award for original research on women’s health by postgraduate OBG or obstetrician-gynaecologist students.

As mentioned in the book that the proceedings from the royalty will be reserved for work in women’s mental health, it had been decided to institute an annual award for OBG postgraduate medical student in Karnataka for original research in women’s mental health.

The submission of the original research in women’s mental health for the Smt. Vimala Kulkarni Award with cash prize, certificate and memento should be before November 30 every year, the statement from Minds United Trust added.

** Vijayapura student gets first rank in Karnataka in unani exams

Unani examinations were held by the RGUHS

Students of the SECAB Luqman Unani Medical College in Vijayapura have got encouraging results in the unani examinations held by the RGUHS. As many as five students have got State-level ranks.

Among degree students, Farah Khatoon Parvez Ahmed got the first rank with 81.67% marks, Khan Batul Mazar got the 7th rank with 79.94% marks and Aseema Mahin got 8th rank with 79.83% marks.

** Kundapur: Dedicated foundation runs unique ‘Kannada Ulisi Belesi’ campaign

 Government schools of rural areas in the state are neglected by the government as well as general public. Many schools does not have basic infrastructure. A team of youths has taken up the vision of developing such schools.

Five years ago, like-minded individuals came together and formed Kannada Manasugalu Pratistana. For the past three- and-a-half years, this foundation is carrying out ‘Sarkari Shale Ulisi’ (Save Government Schoools) campaign.
