Bantwal: First-of-a-kind ‘Suraksha-ICU’ KSRTC bus arrives at BC Road depot

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has designed Suraksha-ICU bus for the treatment of Covid patients. First bus of this kind arrived at the B C Road depot of KSRTC in order to provide health service to public of Bantwal taluk.

Under the limits of Puttur KSRTC division, which includes Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu, the first bus has arrived to Bantwal. MLA of the taluk Rajesh Naik Ullippadyguthu had met deputy chief minister and transport Laxman Savadi and requested him to provide an ICU bus.

The 17-year-old is a part of the programme by 1M1B Foundation (Million for 1 Billion)-a United Nations accredited nonprofit organisation that aims to activate one million young leaders who will impact one billion people for a sustainable planet.

** NEKSRTC renamed Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation

The North East Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has been renamed Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation with immediate effect.

A note from the office of the Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Lakshman Savadi said that the name has been changed in accordance with the power vested under the Road Transport Corporations Act, 1950.

** IIMB students to host start-up contest

Aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups will be able to compete for additional funding and expertise in a contest that will be hosted by the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) students of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).

Called ‘‘Bzzwings’, it is one of largest competitions in the country, IIMB said in a press release. It will be held in July and August 2021.

** Stumps on Hatrick’s innings

A much-loved sports goods dealer in the city, Hatrick Sports, will soon shut shop permanently. The decision was taken after its owner, Ravi Sondhi, passed away in May this year. Mr. Sondhi’s children are not in a position to take over the reins.

The shop, which is now selling all its remaining stock at discounted prices, counted several international sportspersons as its customers. The store was inaugurated in 1977, by then Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) president M. Chinnaswamy. Mr. Sondhi himself was passionate about cricket, serving as the president of popular league side Friends Union Cricket Club (FUCC).

** High Court launches Telegram channels for Karnataka judiciary

The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday launched official Telegram channels for the High Court and 30 districts courts to give a real-time delivery of various information related to cases.

A Telegram Chatbot has also been designed for the High Court, called Karnataka High Court Virtual Case Information Service (HCKChatBot). High Court’s Telegram channel is https://t.me/karnatakahighcourt. The district courts also have similar Telegram channels.
