** PM Modi to unveil Mysuru sculptor’s Shankaracharya statue today

On Friday, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils a statue of Guru Adi Shankaracharya at Kedarnath, it will be a matter of pride for Mysuru.

The Krishna shile (chlorite schist) is from a remote part of HD Kote taluk in the district, and Arun Yogiraj, the man who chiselled the statue, is from the famed Mysuru family of sculptors.    

** Four-day music festival starts from today

The Pyramid Music Academy is organising a four-day annual music festival at the Pyramid Valley International on Kanakapura Road from Friday.

Eight hours of music and meditation every day will be the attraction of the fest, which will start with music meditation, followed by concerts by renowned musicians Kalaimamani Parur MA Krishna Swamy, Prof TS Satyavathi, Karnataka Kalasri Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma, Vidwan Vinay Sharva, Kanchana Sisters Vidushi Shri Ranjani and Vidushi Shruthi Ranjani, Pandith Siddarth Belmannu, Pandith Vipul Riki, Pandith Qusai, and others. ** Kundapur: Rajyotsava awardee Vakwadi Praveen Kumar Shetty felicitated

 NRI Indian entrepreneur, Vakwadi Praveen Kumar Shetty, who is from Kundapur taluk, and who has been selected for Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for the year 2021, arrived in the district on Wednesday November 3.

On his arrival at Lord Vinayaka temple, Anegudde, accompanied by wife Roopali Shetty, he was offered welcome on behalf of the temple management. The priests performed puja. Senior trustee of the temple, K Sooryanarayana Upadhyaya, and priest Murari Upadhyaya, honoured the dignitary on behalf of the temple.

** Names of 93 Rajyotsava awardees announced in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

: Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on Saturday October 30 announced their respective lists of winners of this year’s district Rajyotsava awardees.

The awards will be presented on Monday November 1 during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in the twin districts.

The categories include sports, art, medicine, folklore, theater, music (instruments), deity service, media, yoga, social service, and literature.

DK district administration announced the list of 58 achievers and organisations selected for the award.
