** CISF adds more bite to its security set up in Bengaluru airport

Six super-efficient and exceptionally intelligent canines, all of the Belgian Malinois breed, have just completed their training and are set to be inducted into one of the units of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) of the Kempegowda International Airport. Bengaluru will become the first airport in the country to have this breed put on security duty.

** BCIC holds Indian diaspora meet with Japan

The Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), representing large, medium, and small industries in Karnataka, held a virtual meeting of the Indian diaspora in Japan as a prelude to the 70th anniversary celebration of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Japan.

According to a release by BCIC, the meeting held recently was attended by Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India to Japan, Murugesh Nirani, Minister for Large and Medium Industries, besides many industry heads.

** Bengaluru Man MD Ahmed Bags Guinness Record For Memorising Most Three-Digit Flash Numbers

Bengaluru-based author and coach Mohammed Ali Athar Ahmed, also known as MD Ahmed, entered the Guinness World Records for memorising the most number of three-digit flashcards.

Ahmed bagged the world record for recalling 32 three-digit flash numbers. The previous record was held by an Iranian (30 three-digit cards).

** Mangaluru: Nitte University receives international recognition for green initiatives

Nitte (Deemed to be University) has been ranked 253rd in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in 2021. These international rankings recognize the contributions of universities across the world to policies and actions related to green campus and environmental sustainability. NitteDU participated in this ranking survey for the first time in 2021.

A total of 956 Universities from 84 countries participated in the rankings this year. The survey evaluates 39 indicators related to environment friendly infrastructure,energy, climate change,waste management,water, transportationand education.Nitte Institutions promote sustainable practices on campus and encourage students to be sensitive to environmental issues.

** Niranjana Vanalli’s book on Tajikistan to be released today

Tashakur Tajikistan’, a non-fiction work by Niranjana Vanalli, Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru North University, will be released in the city on Friday.

A well-known columnist, writer and academician who held various positions in the University of Mysore before his current assignment, Prof.Niranjana, had served as the Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, under Embassy of India in Tajikistan during 2018-19. He has penned his experience in this work which presents a positive picture of this country.

The book, which is introducing this country for the first time in Kannada language, is unique in many respects and ‘Tashakur’ means thank you in Tajik language, according to Prof. Niranjana.

** World Senior Badminton Tournament At Spain: Government School Maths Teacher Wins Bronze Medal

Sunil Gladson Varadaraj, who works as an Assistant Teacher at Hosamalangi Government High School in Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar, is the one who had excelled at track & field events during school days and then was part of State Kho Kho team before switching to shuttle badminton.

Now, adding feather to his cap is the Bronze Medal he won at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Senior Badminton Championship held at Carolina Marin Stadium in Huelva of Spain between Nov. 28 and Dec. 4, 2021.

With this win, he becomes the first Mysurean to win a medal at BWF World Championship.

Partnering with Abhinand K. Shetty of Bengaluru, Sunil won Bronze Medal in the Men’s 40-plus Doubles category at the Tournament. In semi-finals, Sunil-Abhinand duo lost to JBS Vidyadhar-Ajit B. Umrani 10-21, 14-21.

** 5-yr-old in Bengaluru sets world record in coding

Five-year-old Sunvisha C Nair, a student of Christ KG at SG Palya, has emerged as the ‘world’s youngest person to code decimal and its corresponding octal, hexadecimal and binary coding of 1-15, in a number system’. 

With this, the child, who was 4 years 11 months 13 days-old at the time of her record, has written the binary, octal and hexadecimal equivalent of the decimal (conventionally-used everyday number system) from 1 to 15.
