** Bantwal: District’s first oxygen generation plant at Vamadapadavu inaugurated

The first ever oxygen generation unit in Dakshina Kannada district was dedicated to the world in the premises of the community health centre, Vamadapadavu in the taluk on Saturday June 5.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, speaking to the media persons after inaugurating the unit, said that this happens to be the first ever oxygen unit to have been set up to meet oxygen shortage arising out of coronavirus in the district and this unit is meant to handle the situation.

Bharat Biotech on Thursday got approval from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to start production of Covaxin at the existing Bharat Biovet unit in Malur, near Bengaluru

** BEML manufacturing medical oxygen units

In a bid to mitigate the oxygen shortage in the country, defence PSU major BEML has started manufacturing 960 LMP medical oxygen units at its KGF complex.

The units have been set up under a transfer of technology agreement with Defence Bio Engineering and Electro Medical Laboratory under the DRDO.

** CHD Group donates 45 oxygen concentrators to BBMP

CHD Group, India country office headquartered at Mangaluru, worked with logistics partner Les Concierges, Bengaluru, and donated 45 oxygen concentrators to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, received oxygen concentrators and appreciated the philanthropic work of CHD Group in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CHD Group also donated five oxygen concentrators to St Johns Medical College Hospital in Bengaluru, to support extended rural outreach, said a press release.

** United States Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy donates 1.4 crore worth equipment

United States surgeon general Dr Vivek Murthy has donated Covid related medical equipment to small hospitals in Mandya and Kodagu districts.

Murthy a native of Hallegere in Mandya district contributing through his Scope Foundation.

** Five-in-one wearable device developed in Bengaluru to monitor vitals of cardiac patients

A five-in-one wearable telemetric device is being used to monitor the vital parameters of Covid and non-Covid cardiac patients at the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research.

The device developed by Cardiac Design Labs is named “Padma Vitals”.

** Campaign to vaccinate 11 lakh in Bengaluru launched

The Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF), an association of over 950 apartment complexes in the city, launched #Vax4All campaign to facilitate COVID-19 vaccination support to residents’ welfare associations across the city.

This is expected to cover 10.98 lakh citizens, including residents and staff working there.
