** Israeli aerospace firm donates 100 oxygen concentrators to BEL

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Israel’s leading aerospace and aviation manufacturer, has donated 100 oxygen concentrators to defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) as a goodwill gesture.

The oxygen concentrators were handed over by Anandi Ramalingam, Director (Marketing), BEL, to Shivakumaran K M, Director (HR) at BEL corporate office in Bengaluru.

As many as 40 constituencies in Karnataka are set to receive oxygen concentrators and contactless vital parameter monitoring units. C-Camp (Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms), a Department of Biotechnology, GoI-supported initiative, on Thursday handed over 200 oxygen concentrators, 200 contactless vital parameters monitoring units, and 15 CPAP+HFNC (continuous positive airway pressure, high flow nasal cannula) units for non-invasive ventilation support to the government of Karnataka.

Born in 1953 in Manchanabele, Magadi, Dr. Siddalingaiah was one of the prominent Dalit voices of the State and was one of the co-founders of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, along with Prof. B. Krishnappa, Devanuru Mahadeva and K.B. Siddaiah in 1974.

He emerged as the fiery voice of the Dalit world in Kannada with his debut poetry collection Hole Madigara Hadu in 1975. His poems Ikrala, odirla .., Yarige bantu, ellige bantu nalavattelara swatantrya?Ninne dina nanna jana …, have attained cult status and have been anthems of the Dalit movement in Karnataka.

** Mysore University Develops New Kit For Rapid COVID Testing

In what could be a major breakthrough in advanced COVID testing, scientists of University of Mysore (UoM) have come up with a new COVID detection kit with an accuracy rate as high as above 90 percent.

Announcing this at a press meet at Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangothri here this morning, Prof. K.S. Rangappa, Distinguished Professor and former Vice-Chancellor of UoM, who heads the UoM team, said that the Varsity in association with Hyderabad-based Lorven Biologics Pvt. Ltd., has developed a new rapid COVID-19 detection kit.
