** Joseph Periera completes Deccan Cliffhanger Ultra Cycling Race

He covered 643 km in 33 hours and 45 minutes

Joseph Periera became the first solo cyclist from Mangaluru to conquer the Deccan Cliffhanger Ultra Cycling Race, covering 643 km in 33 hours and 45 minutes on Sunday.

By completing the Deccan Cliffhanger race, Mr. Periera not only became the first Mangalurean to complete the solo race but also qualified for the Race Across America (RAAM) too.

** Children Excel In Muaythai

Thirteen young Muaythai athletes of the Academy of Martial Science and SMITE Academy of Martial Arts, under the banner of Mysore Combat Sports Association (MCSA), participated in the Youth Muaythai Gala held at Bengaluru to commemorate the Children’s Day (Nov. 14).

The team won 7 gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze medal. The event was hosted by Muaythai Association of Karnataka and sanctioned by Muaythai India (MTI). This event also served as selection trials for the upcoming National Championships to be held in December where athletes from over 25 States are expected to participate

** Udupi: Muddu Theerthahalli selected for Late Joseph, Mary Pinto Niddodi memorial literary award

Vithasha Riya Rodrigues (Muddu Theerthahalli) has been selected for the Late Jospeh, Mary Pinto Niddodi memorial literary award.

The award is conferred in association with Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh to encourage the youth writers in Konkani language.

** 3-day Indo-French Knowledge Summit from Nov. 24

The French Institute in India, a part of the Embassy of France in India, is organizing the third edition of the Knowledge Summit (KS3), an online event from November 24 to 26. It is co-hosted by Savitribai Phule Pune University in partnership with France’s Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), and the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA).

** KIA commissions Rosenbauer Firefighting Simulator, first in South Asia

It helps firefighters train in a realistic environment

Kempegowda International Airport, on Monday, commissioned the Rosenbauer Firefighting Simulator, which provides firefighters the opportunity to train in a realistic environment and master the tactical use of Crash Fire Tenders (CFTs) in a risk-free environment. In a press release, Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said KIA is the first airport in South Asia to commission the Rosenbauer Firefighting Simulator.

** Bengaluru Teacher Mehreen Mushtaq Wins Global Award In Artificial Intelligence

Mehreen Mushtaq Shamim, a teacher from Bengaluru’s Delhi Public School has bagged an award in Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Intel AI Global Impact Festival.

She was selected as one of the four winners of ‘AI impact shapers: Teachers with innovative AI teaching learning practices’. Mehreen has been teaching AI in DPS East for nine years now. The CBSE curriculum had introduced AI as a subject for classes 9-12 in 2019.

** Andaru Deviprasad Shetty elected president of Udupi CCI

Andaru Deviprasad Shetty was unanimously elected as the president of Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).

Deviprasad was elected as president and the new office bearers to the chamber were also elected during the meeting, held on Saturday November 20.

Subhas Kamath, Ln Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Muralidhar Baliga, Ln V G Shetty, Chitharanjan Bhat, Walter Saldanha, Shubhashit Kumar and Chandrakanth were elected the directors of Udupi CCI.

** Udupi: SMVITM students create Android app to provide knee movement assistance for elderly

Under the guidance of Chetan R, senior assistant professor, the final year, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM) ECE students Namana, Pranav, Adithya and Gowri have built the wearable smart and cost effective device which assists in sitting and standing using the Lead Screw mechanism, this is achieved by receiving input from the user through an Android app, which has been developed.
