Ananth Technologies opens spacecraft manufacturing unit at Aerospace Park in City

Ananth Technologies which designs and produces systems for Indian aerospace has set up a 15,000 square metre spacecraft manufacturing unit at KIADB Aerospace Park, Bengaluru, said to be the country’s first such facility in the private sector.

The manufacturing unit would be able to conduct assembly, integration and testing of four large spacecraft simultaneously, the company said in a statement.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Subba Rao Pavuluri, Chairman & Managing Director, Ananth Technologies, said, “India is on the cusp of revolutionising the spacecraft industry. As a nation, we are capable of manufacturing world-class spacecrafts.’‘

“Over the years, Ananth Technologies has successfully contributed to major launches of ISRO. Our technology acumen is such that none of the sub-systems supplied by Ananth Technologies has ever failed in orbit,’‘ he claimed.

Since its inception in 1992, Ananth Technologies has contributed to the manufacturing of 89 satellites and 69 launch vehicles built/launched by ISRO, including two satellites for European customers that ISRO had built in collaboration with Airbus, France.

JAIN University Becomes the Khelo India University Games 2021 Overall Champions

Khelo India University Games 2021 (KIUG 21) host, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), today to become the winner of the Khelo India University Games 2021. The University team topped the chart with 20 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals, followed by Lovely Professional University (LPU) with 17 golds and Punjab University with 15 gold medals.

The swimming team of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) swam to glory with more than 20 medals in several swimming events. Siva Sridhar emerged as the star swimmer by winning 11 gold, while Olympian Shrihari Natraj won 3 gold medals while posting a record-breaking performance. Shrungi Bandekar won 4 golds in various women’s swimming events.

The super racer Priya Mohan of the host university won the gold medal in the women’s 200m race finale by defeating Asian Games’ champion and Olympian Dutee Chand. Priya won the championship by clocking 23.90 seconds, while Dutee Chand of KIIT University came second at 24.90 seconds. Priya Mohan had won gold too in the women’s 400m race on Sunday.

JAIN’s seven-men karate team performed well with Sayed Baba winning the gold at the singles event. Both the men’s and women’s Badminton teams of JAIN University won gold and the hearts of the spectators with their determined performances. Fencing, Women’s Pole Vault and weightlifting teams registered extraordinary performances and fetched medals for the University.

** City Sculptor Arun Yogiraj Gets Work Order For Netaji Statue

Black jade granite stone brought from Telangana for 30-ft statue to be installed at India Gate in New Delhi.

It’s official. City-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj will carve the 30-feet statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose which will be installed at India Gate under the grand canopy behind the erstwhile Amar Jawan Jyoti.

It may be recalled here that Star of Mysore had first published a report on Apr. 6, 2022, under the title ‘Will it be ‘Made in Mysuru’ statue of Netaji at India Gate?’ saying that Arun Yogiraj will be given the responsibility of carving the statue.

A work order has been issued to Arun Yogiraj and team. A large black jade granite stone has been selected and brought from Telangana for the statue to Delhi where the work will be done. The team will stay in New Delhi and carve the impressive statue.

The design of the statue has been done by a team from the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) under the Ministry of Culture, headed by its Director-General, Adwaita Gadanayak.

** Udupi: In a rare feat, Kodibengre village declared tobacco-free

MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty said, “Local villagers of Kodibengre decided to make the village tobacco-free 20 years ago and made it completely free of the vice. Now the government is officially declaring the village as tobacco-free. This is like giving protection and embossing the decision of the villagers. Now the responsibility of villagers has increased with this announcement.”

Shetty was speaking after declaring Kodibengre village as tobacco-free on the occasion of World Tobacco Day. He further said, “I was surprised when I visited Kodibengre village 15 years ago that the villagers have taken vow to make the place tobacco and alcohol-free.

** Free medicated stents for 150 poor cardiac patients 

Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, in collaboration with Medtronic, the U.S., and Govindaraju Subramani, Heart Foundation, Illinois, the U.S., will organise a free three-day angioplasty workshop for 150 patients from June 24 on its premises on Bannerghatta Road in the city.

According to hospital director C.N. Manjunath, the workshop has been planned for 150 poor patients and financially constrained senior citizens across the State.

High-quality medicated imported stents will be given for free to all these patients. Those who have already undergone coronary angiogram and have been advised angioplasty can avail this benefit.

Patients have to produce either the BPL card or the low-income certificate at the time of admission. Registration must be done before June 20.

** Cat Club of India organises second International Championship Cat Show in Bengaluru

Tiny paws, whiskers and a room full of cat lovers. Sounds like a morning in paradise? This is what Sunday morning looked like in Bengaluru when The Cat Club of India held its second International Championship Cat Show at The Lalit Ashok. More than 170 cats, kittens and adults of different breeds from different parts of the country participated in the show. 

Bengal cats, Persian, Maine Coons, exotic short hair ones were present at the show. The criteria for choosing the winner was simple – presentation, cat’s overall health, his/her and temperament, says Sudhakar Katineni, one of the judges of the show. Upon entering, the cats were registered to participate in the show. The Maine Coons and Persian cats had a separate category, unlike all the other breeds that were judged together.

Having participated in about 10 contests and won seven titles, Sindhu Belliappa, a cat lover from Bengaluru, has 14 cats at her pet-friendly home.

** UPSC results: 26 from Karnataka selected for Civil Services  

NLSIU graduate Avinash V. secures 31st rank in his first attempt and emerges as topper in Karnataka

The results of the Civil Services examination 2021, which were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Monday, brought cheer to 26 persons from Karnataka who were selected for the Civil Services.

Twenty-four-year-old law graduate from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU)-Bengaluru, Avinash V., secured the 31st rank in his first attempt and emerged as the Karnataka State topper.

Mr. Avinash is from Davangere and his parents are in the hotel business. He got his BA LLB degree from NLSIU in 2020-21. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Avinash said, “I am very happy that I achieved this rank in the first attempt. Family support, consistent study, and good guidance by my academy are the key points of my success.’’

“After I completed my degree, I immediately joined Insight Academy for coaching. I consistently read regularly for 6 to 7 hours daily. The Hindu helped me lot to build myself and I wanted to go for Indian Foreign Service (IFS),” he said.

Kaup Diwakar Shetty has been awarded Aryabhata International Award in the field of ‘Co-operative Sector’ for contribution towards the society’ developement  &  upliftment.

The award function was held on May 25, 2022. Kaup Diwakar Shetty is the director of  Karnataka Milk Federation Bengaluru.

** Mangaluru: CA S V Acharya honoured with A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievers Award

A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievers Award 2022 was presented to USA SNOM Trust president emeritus CA Sagri Vasudeva Acharya on Friday May 27 at Srinivas University Mukka campus.
