Karnataka – First time vaccination for small pox . 1806

1806 . Vaccination for small pox in Mysore, Mysore State (now Karnataka)

For the first time in the State, Dewan Purnaiah introduced vaccine for small pox in 1806 according to Mysore Gazetteer.

Brief:

Purnaiah was a Minister under Tipu Sultan (Tiger of Mysore). Subsequent to the death of Tipu Sultan in the IVth Mysore War of May 1799, the Kingdom of Mysore was restored to the Wadiyars. Purnaiah was made the Dewan of the Kingdom of Mysore.

First Kannada film with crowd simulation

Aryan – a Shivrajkumar-Ramya starrer.

This sports based film will be the first Kannada film to have a virtual crowd stadium and crowd simulation.

Graphics were done by Bangalore-based Giridhar Gopal with a 60-member team of roto artists, compositors, 3D moulders, animators and matte painters.

Karnataka’s First Inspector General of Police . 1956

Rao Bahadur Pemmanda K. Monnapppa (P.K.Monnappa)

1956.  P.K. Monnappa was appointed as the First Inspector General of Police (IGP)of Mysore State (now Karnataka) and served during the Government of Chief Minister S. Nijalingappa.

In recognition of his meritorious service the title ‘Rao Saheb’ at first and later ‘Rao Bahadur’ was conferred.
