It is indeed a proud moment for the city, entire district and state. Ruth Clare D’Silva has cracked the CA final exam and secured All India first rank (old scheme).
Ruth hails from Mallikatte. She is the daughter of Rosy Maria D’Silva and Ruffert D’Silva. She did her schooling at St Theresa’s School and PU at St Agnes College. She has also done an undergraduate course through distance education from Mangalore University.
** Josvita D’Souza Gurpur elected president of Mangalore diocese YCS
Josvita D’Souza Gurpur, the new diocesan president for Young Catholic Students (YCS), along with other office bearers took charge during the diocesan virtual annual general body meeting held on Friday September 10 at Bejai Church Hall.
Josvita was elected the president of YCS, Mangalore diocese for the year 2021-22 in the virtual election held on September 5 from Shanthikiran Bajjodi. The other newly-elected office bearers of YCS Mangalore diocese 2021-22 are vice president Levin Cutinha Ferar, general secretary Melissa Monterio Bondel, joint secretary Jennica Corderio Valencia, liturgical secretary Ison Pereira Rosario, public relation officer Ashen D’Souza Bejai, treasurer Iden Crasta Bajjodi, cultural secretary Merel D’Souza Permannur, Yuvatare annual magazine editor Franklin Castelino Panir, regional representatives Briston Rodrigues Cordel and Ashton D’Souza Neermarga.

The Kickboxers, who train under University of Mysore (UoM), have excelled at the Karnataka Urban Boxing Championship-2021 held at Elite Academy, Rajivnagar, Mysuru, on Aug. 31, by winning 12 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1st Runners-up Trophy. Chaitra Narayan Hegde, who received 20 Gold Medals and 4 cash prizes in M.Sc (Chemistry), wants to pursue her doctoral degree in Medicinal Chemistry.
Chaitra, who hails from Seegehalli in Sirsi Taluk of Uttara Kannada district, is the daughter of Narayan Hegde and Sumangala, who are arecanut growers.
