** Mysuru NCC Gets India’s First Microlight Simulator

A state-of-the-art Microlight Simulator Room (Virus SW 80 Simulator) set up by Aer X Simulator Labs, a Bengaluru-based company, has been installed at 3 Karnataka Girls Battalion NCC in city.

The facility was inspected by Lt.Gen. Tarun Kumar Aich, AVSM, Director General (DG) of National Cadet Corps (NCC), who visited the NCC Group Headquarters yesterday.

** ‘Mara Mitra’ app launched

The app was simultaneously launched in nine districts of Karnataka where volunteers of Cauvery Calling are working with Karnataka Forest Department and 890 Mara Mitras.

Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar on Thursday launched the Mara Mitra (a tree’s friend) app, created by Cauvery Calling, as part of a series of initiatives being undertaken for an afforestation drive along the Cauvery basin.

The Indian Navy on Tuesday signed the contract with the BEL for the supply of the first indigenous comprehensive Naval Anti Drone System (NADS) with both hard kill and soft kill capabilities.

** Infosys Foundation opens OPD at Kidwai hospital

A 75,000 sqft, multi-disciplinary Outpatient Department (OPD) was opened at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bengaluru on Monday.The block was the initiative of Infosys Foundation and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, in the virtual presence of foundation chairperson Sudha Murty.

Built at a cost of Rs 25.5 crore, the OPD will cover 12 departments and aims to accommodate nearly 1,800 patients daily. “This is a small effort by the foundation to ensure that people have access to clean, hygienic, and timely medical intervention, especially at a time when we are engulfed by a pandemic,” Sudha Murty said.

** Peekay Group ties up with BACL to develop 3D printing facility at Bengaluru airport city

Kerala-based Peekay Group has signed a pact with Bengaluru Airport City Ltd (BACL) to develop a 3D printing technology facility at the airport city that is being developed at the Bengaluru airport premises, according to a statement released said on Friday.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), BACL was formed to develop the airport city at the Bengaluru airport, consisting of business parks, health district, retail dining and entertainment village.

** Bengaluru class 11 student shares his tech knowledge to empower refugees in Malaysia

** Govt schoolboys from Bengaluru to be involved in launching satellite for 75th Independence Day in 2022

In a note to media persons, the Deputy CM said that the launch of 75 satellites which the students are involved in will be part of the 75th independence day celebrations.

The Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayana on Thursday said that students of the government boys high school, Malleshwaram will be part of the satellite launch programme in 2022.

He said that the school will be the first government high school in India to launch a satellite.

** Innovation award for Index App

The city’s Index App, which was developed following the outbreak of COVID-19, has been recognised for using technology to set up the COVID-19 war room. It has been adjudged the winner in the third round of the COVID-19 Innovation Award in the India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020.

The results of ISAC 2020 along with Climate Smart Cities Assessment Results 2.0 were announced by Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri in New Delhi on Friday. Bengaluru bagged three stars with an overall score of 1,271 out of 2,800. It fared fairly well and bagged three stars each in the areas of energy and green building (330/600) and urban planning, green cover and biodiversity (244/500).

The city also bagged four stars in waste management (395/600), but fared poorly in the areas of mobility and air quality (two stars; 187/500) and water management (one star; 115/600). Tumakuru’s Digital Library Solution also bagged third place in ISAC 2020 under the social aspects category.

** Trials for India’s first medical drone delivery service begins in Karnataka

India’s first drone delivery service, that specialises in medical supplies, will begin operating in Karnataka soon. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s green signal is awaited, Throttle Aerospace Systems (TAS) CEO Nagendran Kandasamy said.

The trial, which started on Monday and continued till Tuesday, was successful, Kandasamy said. He said India’s first official beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) medical drone delivery experiment started in Sembhukha Nagar of Gowribidanur taluk in Chikballapur and the trial will continue for 30 to 40 days.
