** 10th century stone inscription found near Shravanabelagola

A 10th century inscription was found in Nagayyanakoppalu village near famous Jain pilgrimage town Shravanabelagola in Hassan district on Tuesday.

The inscription has old Kannada literature on it and was found while cultivation. Officials of archeology department visited the spot and are likely to shift the rock to one of the museums where historical monuments and sculptures are preserved.

According to Dr S Dinesh, a researcher and lecturer of SN PU College, the inscription has information about Jainism and ruler Chandragupta of the Maurya dynasty. The first Kannada inscription was found in Halmidi village of Belur taluk of Hassan district.

** Railway to heaven

In June 2018, Roshan Kanade, a student of Government Arts and Science College, Karwar, and his friend Shivraj Borkar visited the railway station to click a few pictures, and posted them on the internet for a lark. Soon, the pictures became a big hit on social media. Today, Karwar Railway Station, on the Konkan Railway line, is one of the most photographed spots in Uttara Kannada.

** Peru information desk set up in Koramangala

Consulate of Peru in Bengaluru has opened a new information desk in its office in Koramangala. The launch was held on July 28 to mark the 200 years of independence of Peru.

During the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, KKRTC converted the versatile bus into a mobile clinic with oxygen cylinders, a swab centre, and even a library.

** APFT to set up pilot training academy at Kalaburagi Airport

It has signed an MoU with Airport Authority of India (AAI) to establish a flight training organisation on Design, Build, Operate, Maintain and Transfer basis at Kalaburagi Airport for 25 years.

Hyderabad-based Asia Pacific Flight Training (APFT) will be setting up a training institute at Kalaburagi Airport in Karnataka.
