** Drawing the fine lines of Bangalore Metro stations – meet Sushma G

Architect Sushma G has spent all her working life at Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). Having joined in 2008 as a Junior Engineer, she is the today Manager, Planning and Design. She has grown with BMRCL and moved from designing Metro’s Phase-I stations to Phase-II stations.

“I take the Metro from my home at Baiyappanahalli to MG Road, and then take a cab to Shanti Nagar. It fills me with such pride that I am seeing what I drew on a daily basis,” the architect told TNIE. The Bengalurean completed her B.Arch at UVCE. 

** Seven women loco pilots honoured by Government Railway Police

The Government Railway Police (GRP) on International Women’s Day honoured seven women serving as loco pilots and assistant loco pilots in trains operated by the South Western Railway. In recognition of their exemplary services to the Railways, S B Gayatri Krishna, V S Abhirami, C Minu Mubaraka, Nimi Chand, Rangoli Patel, Nimisha Kumari and P Noorul Meharna were honoured.

Additional Director General of Police, Railways, Bhaskar Rao and Superintendent, GRP, DR Siri Gowri were present at the event held at KSR Railway station. M P Omkareshwari, Road Transport Joint Commissioner (Bengaluru Rural), Psychologist Soujayna Vashista, and Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, were also present on the occasion.

Parents were seen hugging their children who were brought to safety. According to Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) Commissioner and Nodal Officer Manoj Rajan, 30 students from the State were safely evacuated by the Embassy of India, Kyiv.

Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway, which bagged the overall efficiency shield for 2020-21, was presented the shield at the 66th Railway Week celebrations at Rail Soudha in Hubballi recently.

South Western Railway General Manager Sanjeev Kishore and other officials presented efficiency shields and various awards to different railway divisions at the function which was held in the virtual mode owing to COVID-19 restrictions.

Bosch, a technology and services provider in the mobility ecosystem, has acquired a 26% stake in Autozilla Solutions to streamline and expand digital B2B marketplace for independent aftermarket (IAM) services in India.

Telangana-based Autozilla is a B2B eCommerce marketplace platform for auto spares, consumables, tools, garage equipment and accessories.

The M Visvesvaraya railway terminal in Bengaluru is ready for commissioning as the country’s third ‘world-class’ railway station in the near future.  Earlier, the Gandhinagar capital railway station in Gujarat and the Rani Kamlapati railway station in Madhya Pradesh were redeveloped and commissioned as the country’s first and second ‘world-class’ stations of the Indian railways.

** ‘Agnihotra’ ritual conducted at Belagavi airport

Airport staff joined members of a religious association to organise an ‘agnihotra’ ritual on the premises of the Belagavi airport in Sambra on Saturday.

Rajesh Kumar Maurya, airport director, Vinayak Lokur, industrialist, and around 20 others lit fire in small homa kundas and chanted hymns to worship Agni, the fire God. They sat in a square-shaped formation at the entrance of the airport lounge. Mr. Maurya shared pictures and videos of the event on the social media handle of the airport.

“Agnihotra is the way to heal and purify the space. It rejuvenates and activates surrounding atmosphere. Thanks to Vinayak Lokur,’’ he said in his post.
