** IISc-incubated startup L2MRail, SID & IISc sign MoU with Kerala Rail

The L2M Rail team and IISc have pioneered Fiber Bragg Grating sensing technology, to develop a Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS) which will monitor civil engineering structures of Kerala Rail’s Silverline project, according to a statement.

** Bengaluru’s KSR station gets facial recognition system

A digital cordon envelops the Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (Bengaluru City) railway station as it has become the first railway station in the country to adopt the Facial Recognition System (FRS) technology.

Within 90 days of the surveillance system going live, 47 history-sheeters have been identified within the station premises.

** Bengaluru, Mysuru among nine cities for Centre’s e-vehicle thrust

The e-bus procured on Thursday will be launched on November 1.

Two cities from Karnataka — Bengaluru and Mysuru — are among the nine nationwide that have been selected for the Centre’s ‘Grand Challenge’ to deploy more electric vehicles (EVs) under public transport. 

The challenge was announced on Thursday, on a day when Bengaluru got its first e-bus, said Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation  Commissioner Anbu Kumar.

** Bengaluru: HAL enters civil aviation with AAAL for Do-228 aircraft to Arunachal Pradesh

India’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) received a major boost with HAL signing a lease agreement with Alliance Air Aviation Limited (AAAL) on Sunday for the supply of two Civil Do-228 aircraft for regional operations in Arunachal Pradesh.

Apurba Roy, General Manager, Transport Aircraft Division, Kanpur, HAL and Arun Kumar Bansal, Head of Engineering, Alliance Air Aviation Limited signed the deal papers in Bengaluru.

** Women bikers lead awareness drive in Bengaluru on mother-newborn safety

Over 100 riders including 70 bikers from Special Initiative Riders (Harley Davidson Riders Group) and 20 Jeep drivers from Bangalore Mudster’s (Jeep Owners) were a part of the awareness campaign.

To mark World Patient Safety Day, women bikers in the city led a unique motor rally to spread awareness about the safety of mothers and newborns on Airport Road on Sunday. The initiative was organised by Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Hebbal. 

Over 100 riders including 70 bikers from Special Initiative Riders (Harley Davidson Riders Group) and 20 Jeep drivers from Bangalore Mudster’s (Jeep Owners) were a part of the awareness campaign.

** Mysuru NCC Gets India’s First Microlight Simulator

A state-of-the-art Microlight Simulator Room (Virus SW 80 Simulator) set up by Aer X Simulator Labs, a Bengaluru-based company, has been installed at 3 Karnataka Girls Battalion NCC in city.

The facility was inspected by Lt.Gen. Tarun Kumar Aich, AVSM, Director General (DG) of National Cadet Corps (NCC), who visited the NCC Group Headquarters yesterday.

** Bengaluru’s BEL to protect Indian Army, Navy, Air Force from drones

The Indian Navy on Tuesday signed the contract with the BEL for the supply of the first indigenous comprehensive Naval Anti Drone System (NADS) with both hard kill and soft kill capabilities.

** Unique sailing race launched at KRS dam

A unique national-level sailing championship was inaugurated at the KRS dam near Mysuru on August 27.

The ‘National Level Multi Class Youth Sailing Championship’ has been jointly organised by the Madras Engineers Group (MEG) of the Army in collaboration with General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure (GETHNAA) and will be held from August 27 to 31 at the KRS dam under the aegis of the Yachting Association of Karnataka and Yachting Association of India.
