** City Central Rly. Station gets Monumental National Flag

Mangaluru Central Railway Station has joined the bandwagon of other important railway stations in the country to sport the Monumental National Flag.

A 20 ft by 30 ft National Flag has been hoisted on a 100 ft tall mast in front of the station with an aim to enhancing the aesthetics of the station as well as to promote patriotism.

The 67th National Film Awards for the year 2019 were announced at New Delhi on Monday March 22.

‘Pingara’ a Tulu movie directed by Preetham Shetty won the best Tulu movie award.

‘Kaajro’ a movie directed by Nitin Bhaskar, has won the best Konkani film award.

** Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College hosts GreenTech Hackathon awards ceremony

The first place in the Hardware Edition of the Hackathon was bagged by the team from St Joseph Engineering College and the second prize was secured by the team from Cambridge Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.

The first place in the Software Edition was bagged by the team from Sri Sairam College of Engineering, Bengaluru and the second prize was secured by the team from St Joseph Engineering College.

The first place in the Open Track was bagged by the team from Akhil Bharatiya Maratha Shikshan Parishad’s Anantrao Pawar College of Engineering & Research, Pune and the second prize was secured by the team from LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Trivandrum.

** Mind Game: Mysuru-Born Sport Psychologist To Mentor India’s Olympic Shooters And Royal Challengers Bangalore

Mysuru-born high-performance senior Sport Psychologist Sanjana Kiran has been appointed to mentor Indian Shooters Manu Bhaker and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa for better preparation and performance ahead of the Tokyo Olympics scheduled to be held in July-August this year.

She will also be the mind coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team during the Indian Premier League (IPL) beginning April 9.

Sanjana is a permanent resident of Singapore and has been a Sport Psychologist to many international elite athletes and coaches in preparation for major games and international competitions since 15 years.

** Green Saviours distributes saplings to villages in Western Ghats

A Belagavi-based NGO, Green Saviours Association, has distributed free saplings of various varieties to farmers in some villages in the Western Ghats, to help them take up agro forestry.

As many as 2,900 banana and 3,500 pineapple saplings were distributed to farmers in Amate vilalge free on Tuesday. This is part of an initiative to work with farmers to help them adopt agro forestry.
