** Former MLA P.J. Jacob passes away at 90
The former MLA from Kalghatgi and Rajyotsava Award winner Reverend P.J. Jacob passed away on Tuesday. He was 90.
He was the founder-president of Good News Welfare Society, which runs various educational institutions, from anganwadi to degree colleges.
He led several agitations for development of the backward taluk.
He used his good offices to get drinking water to villages, roads and other facilities to Dalit colonies and helped in efforts to set up vocational training colleges.
** Kannada crosswords now on mobile phones
Indic Crosswords has now tied up with noted Kannada crossword writer A.N. Prahlad Rao, who has begun publishing a 7X7 crossword on the app daily. “Sadly, solving crosswords is a vanishing habit. Earlier, elders and women at home used to regularly solve them, while children were prescribed to do so to improve their language. But nowadays, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I hope that taking crosswords to mobile phones will encourage the youth,” he hoped.

I got worried and decided to have a second opinion. One of my friends advised me to go to a local mechanic, Khaleel, who was an expert in his own way in repairing high-end cars. I thought of giving it a try and went to his garage which was next to a Gujari (dump yard). I was amazed to see several high-end imported cars parked there for different levels of repairs.

I went back to the garage, posing with a fictional courage. Cool as a cucumber, Khaleel said the snag is rectified and demonstrated that it worked properly.
