** Indigenous tribe that worships tigers helps protect the species

The Soligas tribe in the Western Ghats of India reveres the Bengal tiger. Their coexistence in India’s Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple Tiger Reserve has helped the tiger population flourish, says Shadi Atallah, a natural resource economist in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at University of Illinois.

** Stalls for GI products

Karnataka boasts of a total of 42 products that have been included in the Geographical Indication (GI) of goods list. This is out of 370 goods have been given GI tag in the country.

Separate stalls for GI goods would be set up at the Bengaluru and other airports in the State for their promotion, said Major and Medium Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar on Friday in the Assembly.

The alumni of Sadguru Shri Siddharoodha High School with the technical support of Jain College of Engineering and Technology in the city come up with the air filter tower which is first of its kind in Hubballi-Dharwad twin cities.
