** Kuwait: MFC clinches Oriental Trophy-2021 Season II

A total of 20 teams participated in the Oriental Trophy-2021 (Season-II) tournament.

The teams were divided into four groups consisting of 5 teams each. The top 2 teams from each group were qualified for the knockout stages but the two undefeated titans of the tournament, Mangalore Friends Cricketers (MFC) and Magic XI reached to the grand finale of Oriental Trophy-2021 (Season-II) on Friday April 2 at 10 am, Kuwait time.

** Mangaluru: Deepa K S wins gold at state-level bench press competition

Group of Iron Games, Davanagere held state-level bench press competitions in association with Karnataka Power Lifting Association at Kuvempu Kannada Bhavana.

Deepa K S of Mangaluru has won the gold medal in the master division. She also won a silver medal in the women’s open division (69 kg).

** Biocon Pharma gets GMP nod from UK health regulator for Bengaluru facility

“Biocon Pharma Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Biocon Limited, has received a certificate of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the United Kingdom (UK), for its manufacturing facility at Biocon Park in Bengaluru,” Biocon said in a regulatory filing.

** Rohini Nilekani pledges ₹50 cr. to ATREE

City philanthropist and author Rohini Nilekani pledged ₹50 crore to ATREE (Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment), a think tank.

Of this, ₹25 crore will be a direct grant, while the remaining ₹25 crore will be matching funds for new grants ATREE raises from other sources, as per a statement.

A new concept to expose the wider culture of Mysuru that goes beyond Dasara and showcasing the city’s built and natural heritage, promoting it as a centre for contemporary cultural activities, is in the offing.

G.N. Heritage Matters, an architectural consultant firm which has made a presentation, opines that it will boost tourism without causing large expenditure on new attractions.
